Comprehensive Academic and ADHD Coaching
Mastering effective academic skills is essential for learning with efficiency and success. Unfortunately, many of these skills are not formally taught or reinforced within schools. Disorganization and time mismanagement exacerbate the inherent stress students experience. When coupled with test anxiety and inadequate preparation, this unstable foundation often results in subpar academic performance and underachievement. At StudyWise Tutoring, our focus is on instilling organization, time management, and study skills in all students, enabling them to unlock their full potential. These skills are not only beneficial for academics but also serve as invaluable assets in the years ahead.
StudyWise Tutoring has an extensive background in working with students with ADHD and other comorbid challenges and disabilities. We understand that ADHD encompasses more than just what appears on the surface. The challenges below the surface can lead to poor communication with teachers and parents, frustration, anxiety, and low self-esteem, among other things.
Our tutors’ knowledge leads to patience and understanding, while still expecting and encouraging students to make changes. We help students find ways to cope with their challenges in order to move in a more positive direction. Focusing on progress, not perfection, allows the tutors and students to form a strong bond and make lasting changes. Coaching ADHD students is not a quick fix, but a journey. Over time, students become more confident, responsive, and responsible.
Middle/High School:
Navigating the transition to middle school and high school presents a myriad of challenges for students, as they grapple with newfound freedoms and responsibilities. Maneuvering between different classrooms, interacting with unfamiliar teachers, and managing heightened homework loads can feel overwhelming. Coupled with the complexities of hormonal changes and social pressures, these adjustments often mark the first instances where students encounter academic hurdles.
Despite their desire for increased independence, teenagers are met with increased expectations from family, school, and prospective colleges, making it daunting for parents to loosen their reins. Having a supportive coach by your side can smooth the path forward, instilling confidence in your student’s capacity to develop responsibility and autonomy as they progress. Guided by a coach, students are empowered to enhance their organization, time management, test preparation, and communication skills, facilitating their journey toward greater self-sufficiency. Additionally, students find solace in confiding their thoughts with a non-judgmental third party—a crucial aspect of their growth and academic success.

College:
Now in college, students may need support and guidance as they embark on this new chapter of their academic journey. Whether attending a local community college or a university away from home, a host of new responsibilities are now on their plates. These new obligations can prove overwhelming for many, especially when coupled with the challenges of adjusting to a new environment and course load.
In addition to enhancing organizational, time management, and study skills, an academic coach can offer assistance to students as they navigate campus life. Academic coaches offer comprehensive support, such as familiarizing students with campus facilities, aiding them in accessing and utilizing available resources, as well as facilitating effective communication with professors. The ultimate goal is that college students feel more confident in managing themselves and that the skills acquired transfer to the real world once they graduate.
