Individual Subject Tutoring
StudyWise currently offers math, writing, college application management, and college essay guidance. Our subject tutors differ in their approach by including organization, time-management, and study skills alongside the content. Without these skills, subject tutoring is not as effective or long-lasting. Our goal is to teach students the skills they need in order to help themselves within subject content when a tutor is not present.
Math: Our math tutoring not only teaches concepts, but eases math anxiety, increases frustration tolerance, and improves study habits. Students feel more confident and motivated with one-on-one support, leading to better performance.
Writing: Essay writing is a daunting task for many students because it involves several thought processes and steps. We help by breaking the writing down into smaller chunks and solidifying ideas and structure prior to writing the big essay.
College Apps and Personal Essays: College applications are a foreign concept to students, as well as many parents. We break down the applications into more manageable pieces and create deadlines along the way to avoid a last minute rush.
Students can also choose to work with a writing tutor for the essay portions of the applications. Many times students do not have experience writing personal essays and are unsure of how to best present themselves. We help them find their voices so their application essays stand out!
