StudyWise Programs
*Academic coaching: StudyWise has extensive experience with non-subject specific tutoring, focusing on skills that apply to all classes. Many students have the intelligence to succeed, but not the organization, time-management and/or study tools to reach their full potential. We have experience working with ADHD, autism spectrum, learning disabilities, as well as 504 plans and IEPs. Teacher communication is also often a focus since teachers play a large role in students’ success. We provide the skills needed to self-advocate and self-manage, resulting in greater school success.
*Subject Tutoring: Subjects currently offered are math and writing. We incorporate organization, time-management and study skills into subject specific tutoring because without these skills a student cannot truly become successful. By addressing these areas, in addition to content, students become more self-sufficient and responsible for their learning.
*Parent Consulting: At StudyWise we believe that parents need support, too. We often hear parents say, “When I was in school…” and whatever follows often does not translate to today’s generation. Expectations, grading systems, learning platforms, and social life are different than when we were kids. Couple these differences with raising a child with learning challenges and parenting can feel even more overwhelming. We can help you better understand how the school system and your student function so you can provide more effective support. Whether you meet once, a handful of times, or more regularly, we are here to support you and help you find a better way to approach school with your student.
*Program Commitment: A 12-week commitment is required, with students meeting a minimum of once per week with their tutor. After 12 weeks, you decide whether further tutoring is desired to further or maintain results. Tutoring takes place at the StudyWise office in Sw Beaverton/Portland, in home, or at a public location, such as a library. more info >
